Glass Tabletops & Shelves

We create indoor and patio glass tabletops as well as glass shelving.

Curious about our process?
Watch our video to see how a paper pattern can be used to create a glass tabletop. We can give you large craft paper to make your own pattern as well. Set the paper on the table with weights, such as books, and use the edge of a pencil or a crayon to trace the edge of the table, making sure the paper doesn’t move. Create a nice sharp line so our glaziers know where to cut the glass. We can also make shelves to a template like wood if you have one.

Types of Glass Edging

Discover the standard edgework options for your glass project. Flat polished edges are the most common type of edging for indoor glass table tops, shelves, and shower door glass. Below you can see the profile of each of these different edge types. The pencil edge is also popular with indoor table tops and shelves. It has a rounded look. You see beveled edges a lot on mirrors that are in frames, or frameless mirrors in bathrooms. The beveled edges are more expensive but give a nice decorative look. You occasionally see them on clear glass table inserts and cabinet door inserts as well. The eased or dubbed corner uses a very slight sanding to make the corners less sharp. A clean cut edge is just a sharp cut edge with nothing done to it. This is usually fine for glass that goes in a frame or cabinet door where the edge isn’t exposed. We can also do a seamed edge which is a light sanding to take the sharpness off.

Safety Glass

Safety glass is needed for doors and windows next to doors within a certain distance. Safety glass can also be necessary in certain bathroom applications. The most popular types of safety glass for those applications are tempered glass and laminated glass. Tempered glass shatters into many tiny pieces if it breaks to avoid sharp shards. It is also stronger than annealed (non-tempered) glass. Laminated glass is two panes of glass with a film between them. This keeps the glass together upon breakage. Plexiglass and Lexan can also be used in certain applications for safety as well. Borofloat and Pyrex are specialized glass for high-heat environments.

Patterned Glass

We have many types of patterned glass. Pattern glass is great for cabinet doors or table inserts. Certain patterns can also be made into thermopanes (I.G.U.s) for a more decorative window and/or privacy. Our showroom has a display of many popular patterns installed into cabinet doors, and our office has a bin of patterned samples to look at. Patterns are also available for shower door glass.
